Long Time no See
I met Katrena a few months ago via a mutual friend. I remember I walked into Gossip Grill, the local gay club and saw her and my jaw just about dropped. Then I met her, and not only is she physically beautiful but also so kind.
A little while later she asked me to photograph a LGBTQ+ fundraiser for a resource center. I said yes, and was so stoked to be able to volunteer for such an amazing event. Once I was there, I got to listen to local musicians, watch drag performances, and then the governor spoke. It was so moving. Im from the midwest so open support for the queer community is not in politics. Even though I am in a straight relationship, I have identified as queer for almost my entire adulthood, even still. And I guess in the back of my mind I had just accepted that I didn’t need anyone else to support that. But hearing the governor talk, and a whole huge group of people to come together to raise money to help queer members of the community, it really fufilled something I needed to see.
Well anyways, Katrena and Ruby are in a long distance relationship, and Ruby is visiting! So I had the honor of getting to capture their love. They are suuuuuch a cute and fun couple. We met at a valley, hiked a little bit to the perfect sun spot. and ooooh my gosh. that golden hour was doing its thing.
I love how these photos turned out, and I love even more that I got to capture such a sweet couple in a time when they didn’t have a lot of time together. I hope they can cherish these photos until the next time they are together again
